Work in Progress with Crystal

TRANSCRIPT

Welcome to Plan for Wonder.

My name is Crystal, and I am the founder of mylifeplanners.ca.

This first episode is perfectly titled: Work in Progress

Why?

I woke up today with something else in mind to work on. This was not it. But for some reason, the concept is really hitting a cord with me. After doing a quick Google search on how to start a podcast, I quickly came across a post sharing how to utilize my Squarespace website as a resource to create my own custom RSS feed.

Then I began figuring out how I can quickly and easily record decent quality audio. Today I am landing on recording through my zoom account and then tweaking the audio in Garage Band.

In a perfect world, this audio would have begun with some music introduction to set the vibe, but I don’t even know what that is yet, and as they say, Perfection is the enemy of progress, so week to week, I will likely sound different as I work through and test alternatives to see what works best.

The key to starting is to start simple. Using what you have at hand.

This right here is me jumping into creating a podcast. After hitting my 50-year milestone, all of the ideas and thoughts that have been bottled up, as a good Gen Xer does, and it’s time to free them. Turn on the tap and process what is working and what isn’t.

In an out-of-the-blue turn of events, I have made a commitment to myself recently. And this is a pretty big deal to me. I have commitment issues. Life is never guaranteed, so investing too much into one thing is risky. The thing is, if I don’t value my ideas, no one else is going to. And even if I do and others don’t, it means that they are not the right fit to join me in this adventure.

I have been building myLife Planners since 2014 when I realized I needed something unique to bridge the demands of all the areas of my life as well as bridge the value I get from digital calendars. Since then, I have very slowly been growing a following of fans who utilize the myLife tools.

The kicker is that the tools are unique to be flexible for a person's needs. Each person uses a myLife tool in their own way. You are as unique as a snowflake.

The myWeek and myDay are solid planning tools. They aren’t trying to be more than they are. They will never push you to commit to more than you have a capacity for, but they also provide you the space to wander in your own potential.

I know they are good, and I am committed to them. In five years, I will no longer need client work. Not that I won’t work with people, I will just choose who to use my graphic design skills for. And my income will be replaced by the sales of myLife Planners.

So getting back to what my intention is for the Plan for Wonder audio series. I’m here to dive into what really matters. We aren’t living in the past, we have a future that filled with unlimited possibilities. How we look at our own lives and what that means for each and every one of us. The unique circumstances of how and where we were born are part of our path.

I don’t have answers because I don’t know what the questions are for you. We come up with them every moment of every day. But we have our own uniqueness that impacts the world around us.

I have been an avid learner for as long as I can remember. School in and of itself offers so many possibilities. I learn from others, and I plan on sharing the insights that resonate with me and my take on things.

I began myLife with a mission to Find focus, bring clarity, live with intention, and plan for wonder. Honestly, the wonder part was an ‘afterthought’ at the time, but now I see that my muse is nudging me.

I’ll be exploring how taking time to rest and embrace the world's wonder is where things begin.

And with that, thank you for listening. Cue in upbeat audio transition… maybe next time.

Until then, subscribe or return to mylifeplanners.ca/podcast each week.
